Domestic prices started to fall again.
Domestic sugar prices in major markets were reported to be lower by Rs 10-20 per quintal due to weak demand. Prices fell by Rs 20 per quintal in Uttar Pradesh and Rs 10 per quintal in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Almost all mills are operational in Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh, and 185 mills have begun crushing operations in Maharashtra, which should help keep prices under control. Due to limited cane availability in Maharashtra, fewer mills are expected to operate this season.
As of December 15th, Indian mills had produced 6.09 MMT, down 18% because mills in Maharashtra and Karnataka began late. Around 472 mills are operational, compared to 502 mills last year. The recovery rate is reported to be slightly lower than the previous season, with recovery lower across the major states.
S-grade sugar in Kolhapur costs Rs 3,300-3,350 per quintal, while M-grade sugar in Muzaffarnagar costs Rs 3,660-3,700. Agrimandi.live predicts that the price of Kolhapur S-grade sugar will be between Rs 3,260 and Rs 3,380 per quintal in the near future.

The rupee traded against the US dollar at 84.909 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 6.0504, Crude WTI traded at $69.51 barrel. Sensex closed 1,064.12 points down at 80,684.45 whereas Nifty closed 332.25 points lower at 24,336.00
