IREDA to expand operations into emerging sectors including ethanol

New Delhi: The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) will expand operations into emerging sectors such as Green Hydrogen, E-Mobility, and ethanol, while continuing to strengthen its presence in traditional renewable energy sectors like solar, wind, hydro, biomass, and cogeneration, Chairman and Managing Director Pradip Kumar Das announced, reported ETEnergyWorld.

Speaking at the company’s 38th Annual General Meeting (AGM), held via video conference from its corporate office, Das said the organisation was “broadening its focus to include newer clean energy sectors, while continuing to lead in established areas such as solar and wind power.”

Das also outlined IREDA’s efforts to make business operations simpler through greater use of technology. “We are putting more resources into automation and data analysis so our employees can work more efficiently,” he said.

Highlighting the company’s financial performance, Das reported that IREDA has sanctioned loans worth over ₹2.49 lakh crore and disbursed ₹1.63 lakh crore as of the first quarter of FY26. He noted that the loan book has grown at a compound annual growth rate of 29 per cent since FY21, reaching ₹79,941 crore in Q1 FY26, and that operating profit rose 49 per cent year-on-year in the same quarter.

Das added that the company’s status as an Infrastructure Finance Company (IFC) and the Section 54EC tax exemption for its bonds have strengthened its ability to attract investors and secure competitive funding. “These measures make us better positioned to engage with investors and raise funds efficiently,” he said.

The AGM was chaired by Das and attended by the Board of Directors and shareholders. All shareholder questions were addressed, with the management reiterating its commitment to openness and active engagement with stakeholders.
