Sugarcane crushing in the second half of December hit 2.17 million tons, up 26.6% versus the same period a year ago, UNICA said.
In the accumulated total for the 2025-2026 harvest season up to January 1, crushing reached 600.40 million tons, compared to 614.39 million tons registered during the same period in the previous cycle, a decrease of 2.28%.
Sugar production in the last fifteen days of December totaled 56 thousand tons, registering a drop of 14.93% compared to the quantity registered in the same period of the 2024/2025 harvest (66 thousand tons).
In the accumulated total from the start of the harvest until January 1, sweetener manufacturing totaled 40.22 million tons, versus 39.88 million tons in the previous cycle.
In the second half of December, ethanol manufacturing by South-Central units reached 561 million liters, broken down as:
Hydrous ethanol: 328 million liters (+7.23%).
Anhydrous ethanol: 233 million liters (+27.76%).
In the accumulated current agricultural cycle, biofuel manufacturing totaled 30.84 billion liters (-5.06%), comprising 19.05 billion liters of hydrous ethanol (-7.94%) and 11.78 billion liters of anhydrous ethanol, a value very close to that registered in the same period of the 2024/2025 harvest (11.78 billion).
