The sugar industry remains a priority of the Marcos administration, with concerns already raised before the appropriate government offices, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto said.
Recto made the statement during a meeting with Senator Francis Pangilinan on Wednesday, held to align efforts in addressing issues affecting the sugar sector.
During the discussion, Pangilinan raised the challenges faced by farmers, mill workers, and consumers, and presented key policy recommendations aimed at stabilizing the industry.
In response, Recto said the concerns would be reviewed and elevated to the relevant offices for policy consideration, as part of the administrationтАЩs broader push to develop responsive interventions for the sector.
Recto also underscored the need for close coordination between the executive and legislative branches, as well as continued engagement with farmers, millers, and other stakeholders.
