Security measures heightened at religious and heritage sites in Delhi

Security is tightened across the national capital, at significant religious and historical locations in Delhi, including the vicinity of the Red Fort and parts of Chandni Chowk, due to intelligence suggesting a potential terrorist threat.

Authorities issued a warning regarding a possible explosion near the Red Fort. This alert follows indications from central intelligence agencies that the Pakistan-based terror organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has purportedly identified key religious sites in India as targets.

Sources indicate that specific intelligence pointed to a temple located in the Chandni Chowk area as a likely target. While these inputs are currently being validated and assessed, security has been heightened around sensitive religious sites and densely populated public spaces.

Central agencies are working closely with Delhi Police units, enhancing surveillance through CCTV monitoring, vehicle inspections, and increasing personnel presence at vulnerable locations. Additionally, bomb disposal teams, canine units, and quick response teams have been placed on standby at strategic points.
