As per reports, Ukraine has officially launched a national Register of Biomethane to verify and confirm the origin of renewable gas from production to consumption or export.
“We form a full-fledged biomethane market infrastructure, without which its scaling, investment attraction and international trade were impossible,” said Anna Zamazeeva, head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, which is manning the register.
The system is open to biomethane producers, buyers, grid operators and their authorised representatives.
It was developed in line with European renewable energy directives and creates the legal basis for Ukrainian biomethane to be recognised in EU markets.
The country currently operates seven biomethane plants with a combined capacity of more than 110 million m³ per year.
