Gadchiroli: Amid strong opposition from social activists and concerns over a possible law and order situation, the proposed environmental public hearing for LTB BeveragesтАЩ ethanol project in the MIDC area has been postponed, with the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board putting the March 9 process on hold, Lokmat reported.
The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board took the decision to defer the environmental public hearing scheduled for March 9.
The company had proposed setting up a 1 KLD ethanol production pilot project at Plot No. A-13/1 in the MIDC area. The foundation stone for the project was laid about one and a quarter years ago. However, the proposal faced opposition soon after.
During the state Assembly session, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had announced that the project would not go ahead.
Despite this, efforts had recently resumed to make the project operational. As part of the process, an environmental public hearing had been scheduled for March 9, 2026, at the District CollectorтАЩs office. A public notice regarding the hearing was published in newspapers on February 6.
The hearing has now been put on hold until further notice.
