After Tarapur blast, Maharashtra CM orders safety audit of industrial units

Mumbai: Following the death of eight persons in a powerful blast at a chemical factory in Palghar, Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray has ordered a safety audit of all industrial units falling in danger zone. A huge explosion occurred at a chemical factory at Tarapur which is located 100 km away from Mumbai on Saturday evening. CM announced Rs 5 lakh financial assistance to the kin of the deceased.

In an issued official statement, CM ordered the safety audit of all plants across the state that are categorised as danger and which generally deal with highly inflammable materials. Sugar mils will also have to undergo a safety audit.

At least six people died while five others sustained grievous injuries after a boiler blast occurred in Nirani sugars at Mudhol in Karnataka’s Bagalkot district in the year 2018.
