Agri exports rise 18 per cent despite Covid pandemic

New Delhi: Though the coronavirus pandemic hit all the sectors in the country, the growth in the export of agricultural commodities including sugar continues in the country. The agri export from India has increased to 18% compared with last year.

Along with the sugar, the commodities India has exported this year include wheat, rice, soya meal, spices, raw cotton, fresh and processed vegetables and alcoholic beverages.

According to the ministry, despite Covid-19, balance of trade in agriculture has increased during April, 2020 – Feb, 2021 to Rs 1. 32 lakh crores as against Rs 93,907 crore during the same period in 2019-20.”
