Bhubaneswar: Stating that the government’s policies have helped in increasing the income of farmers, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar asked farmers to focus on technology use in order to increase the farm output as well as profit, reports PTI.
Speaking at an agriculture conclave in Odisha, he said, “The government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken several steps in the last eight years that have helped in increasing the income of farmers. The steps taken by the government during these years are now paying off.”
Sanjeev Balyan, Minister of State for Fishery, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying said that the ethanol blending programme of the central government has resulted in increasing ethanol in petrol from 2% to 12% which has benefitted farmers. Now ethanol is produced from wheat, rice, and corn and the farmers producing these crops are benefitting due to the government’s ethanol blending programme, he said.
