AIKMS demands revival of Sarangapur sugar factory

Nizamabad: All India Kisan Mazdoor Sangh (AIKMS) has demanded the government to reopen the closed Sarangapur sugar factory on a priority basis. The organisation’s state leader Velpur Bhumaiah alleged that the government was closing the factories for the benefit of private companies.

AIKMS and Factory Preservation Committee launched the padyatra at Thirmanpally village on March 17, 2021 and reached Dharmaram and Bardipur villages in Dichpalle mandal on Thursday demanding the reopening of the sugar factory.

More than 22,000 farmers are shareholders of the sugar factory and around 500 workers are employed with the mill. Apart from these, thousands of others that were depending on the mill are losing their livelihood due to the closure of factory, he said.
