Madurai, Tamil Nadu: Sugarcane farmers associated with the Tamil Nadu Sugarcane Farmers’ Association launched agitation and blocked the road in front of the district collectorate demanding the starting of cane crushing at the National Cooperative Sugar Mill located at Alanganallur.
According to the news report published in The Hindu, N. Palanichamy, state president of the association said, “The farmers have harvested tons of sugarcane but the sugar mill has not procured cane from them for crushing. This indicates that the mill administration is favouring private sugar mills.”
