All eyes set on Raju Shetti’s sugarcane conference

Kolhapur: Sugar millers in Maharashtra will closely monitor the sugarcane congregation organised by farmers’ leader and former MP Raju Shetti.

The sugarcane conference will be held on Tuesday at Jaysingpur and is important for the sugar sector as on this platform Shetti declares the sugarcane rate that farmers demand from the sugar mills.

For this crushing season, most of the sugar mills have declared their rates based on the FRP (Fair and Remunerative Price) and farmers are expecting to get more than FRP from the mills.

According to the news report published in The Times of India, Savkar Madnaik, one of the activists associated with Raju Shetti’s organisation Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) said,“The input costs have increased manifold and we want the hike in sugarcane prices. The FRP fixed by the central government is not sufficient”.
