Ambala: Sugarcane farmers start indefinite protest for pending cane dues

Ambala: Sugarcane farmers launched an indefinite protest outside the office of the Naraingarh sub-divisional magistrate on Monday for the pending cane dues worth Rs 60 crore, reports Hindustan Times.

The agitation is led by the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Shaheed Bhagat Singh), a newly floated organization. The other farmers’ organizations like BKU (Charuni), BKU (Tikait), BKU (Bhaichara), and Ganna Sangharsh Samiti have not participated in the protest.

Amarjeet Singh Mohri, state president of BKU (SBS) said that the farmers will continue the agitation till they get their cane dues. Three months have passed since the mill began cane crushing but we have not received this year’s cane bills.
