Amroha: Farmers unhappy over delay in increasing crushing capacity of sugar mill

Amroha, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers have expressed anger at the cooperative sugar mill, Kalakhera for not paying cane dues in time as well as at the slow pace of cane crushing, reports Live Hindustan.

Farmers under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Sangh have handed over the letter of their demands to the SDM office addressed to the Chief Minister.

Chandra Prakash Sharma, an official of the organisation said, “Several years have passed since the announcement of doubling the crushing capacity of the sugar mill but nothing has happened so far. We want the government to increase the crushing capacity of the mill for the next season. We also demand that the mill should clear cane bills of farmers within 14 days of sending their cane to the mill.”
