Argentina: Frosts impact sugar production in Tucuman province

Not only Brazil but the Tucuman province in Argentina is also affected due to frost. The sugarcane grown in the region has been hit by frosts in June and July, according to La Gaceta.

As per the data collected by research centre Estación Experimental Agroindustrial Obispo Colombres (Eeaoc), sugar production has been reduced by 150,000 metric tonnes due to frosts.

Jorge Scandaliaris, the director of Eeaoc said that the availability of sugarcane and its quantity has been reduced. The recent estimates of Eeaoc released on August 10 state that this season the sugar factories in the province will crush 14.2 million tonnes of sugarcane and 1.25 million tonnes in sugar equivalent.
