Guwahati, Assam: In a significant victory against trans-border crimes and smuggling, the Border Security Force (BSF) achieved a breakthrough. Troops from the 49th battalion of BSF stationed at the Hatir Char Border Out Post successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle sacks of sugar, seizing a substantial quantity along the international boundary between Bangladesh and India.
The operation took place on December 8 at the 60 Bighar Char area, located under Sukchar PS of South Salmara Mankachar district. While engaged in boat patrolling along the Brahmaputra River, vigilant BSF troops intercepted and successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle 6,468 kg of sugar, valued at Rs 4.66 lakh.

In addition to the substantial sugar haul, the BSF seized two engine-fitted boats intended for transporting illicit goods from India to Bangladesh.
The confiscated sugar and boats have been handed over to the nearest customs office for further legal proceedings, marking another successful operation in the ongoing efforts to maintain border security and combat cross-border smuggling.
