Bajaj Auto has launched the world’s first CNG motorcycle, Freedom 125, at an event graced by India’s Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, which underlined the launch of this product as a landmark one for the future of the Indian automobile industry.

During his speech, the Union Minister discussed the future prospects of the Indian automobile industry and highlighted the transformations observed in recent years. Gadkari also confirmed that Bajaj Auto is actively developing technology for vehicles running entirely on biofuel.

He stated, “Rajiv Ji (Rajiv Bajaj) has taken the initiative to develop motorcycles running on 100 percent bioethanol.” He further announced, “We have already inaugurated three ethanol pumps.” Providing further details, the minister mentioned, “Indian Oil has committed to launching 400 ethanol pumps following my request.” This initiative aims to enhance accessibility of biofuel for the general public.

Rajesh Agrawal, ethanol expert said, “Development of 100 per cent ethanol driven vehicles will be a big positive. Particularly, 2-wheelers’ market in India is huge. Even neighboring countries have sizeable number of 2-wheelers. 20% blending substituted for 100% ethanol driven is a giant leap.”
