Bangladesh: Demand to reopen closed sugar mills

Sramik Karmachari Oikya Parishad has demanded to restart the operations of six government-run sugar mills, which has been currently suspended. The members of the organisation conducted a rally on Tuesday for their demands in Dhaka.

Addressing the rally, the leaders said, the government’s decision has impacted the hundreds of families due to closure of these sugar mills. The government should book the corrupt bureaucrats that are responsible for the closure of these sugar mills and not close them. The government can revive these mills through modernization that would help these mills to become from loss-making to profit-making units.
