Bangladesh govt cuts prices of packaged and loose sugar

Acting on the recommendations of the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission (BTTC), the commerce ministry has cut the prices of packaged and loose sugar by Tk6 and Tk8 per kg respectively, according to tbsnews.

The notice issued by the ministry stated that the rates will be effective from 25 September.

The packaged sugar will be now sold at Tk89 from Tk95 while the loose sugar will be sold at Tk84 from Tk 92.

The decision to fix the price of sugar was announced by the Ministry of Commerce on 30 August.

However, sugar is sold at a higher rate than the recommendations made by the ministry. It is sold in the range of Tk90 to Tk95 as per the rates in the retail market on Tuesday.
