Bangladesh: Sugar vanishes from mill; investigation on

The investigation of the committee, formed by the Ministry of Industries, found that about 53 tonnes of sugar is missing from the warehouse of Kushtia Sugar Mill in Bangladesh. The market value of the stolen sugar is about Tk 33 lakh.

According to a local media report, the sugar was stolen by the miscreants during broad daylight.

The incident came to light on June 3 when it came to the notice of the mill administration that 53 tonnes of the sugar was missing from the godown but it was supposed to have 121 tonnes of sugar in its latest stock statement.

Following the incident, a four-member committee headed by the factory’s GM (finance) initiated the inquiry regarding the issue and a police complaint was registered with the Kushtia Model Police Station in this regard.
