Bangladesh: TCB to sell sugar at subsidized rate in the country

Following the increase in the sugar rates in the domestic market amid the Covid outbreak, the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will launch a nationwide programme to sell sugar, red lentil, soya bean oil and onion at subsidized rates.

TCB issued a press release on Saturday stating that the sugar will be sold at subsidized rates in Dhaka and other metropolitan cities, district and upazila towns. This is the sixth time TCB is selling sugar nationwide in 2021.

The sugar in the domestic market is sold at Tk 75-80 per kg and TCB will sell it at TK 55 per kilogram.

Under the OMS programme, around 400-450 mobile trucks would sell TCB products across the country till December 28.
