Sirauli, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Sangh have demanded that sugar mills should clear the pending cane dues with immediate effect.
The BKS members along with farmers met the deputy collector and handed over him the memorandum of their demands including clearing of cane dues. They also said that all the sections of society, except farmers, have received the benefits of the relief package during a lockdown. The government should also ensure that farmers get these benefits.
Sugarcane farmers claim due to non-payment of cane dues they are suffering from the financial crisis.
Uttar Pradesh is also taking various steps to ensure sugar mills clear the dues on a priority basis. The administration also warned of strict action against sugar mills if they default in cane payment.
