Bhartiya Kisan Sangh demands payment of pending cane arrears

Shamli, Uttar Pradesh: Bhartiya Kisan Sangh has expressed their displeasure over the non-payment of pending cane arrears. The farmers under the banner of BKS organized an online meeting of farmers to discuss further action over pending sugarcane dues.

Farmers claim that due to coronavirus they are facing financial scarcity and they don’t have enough money to meet their demands.

Government is closely monitoring the daily cane payments by sugar mills. Also, instructions have been issued to take action against sugar mills if they fail to clear cane dues. Sugarcane farmers claim they are reeling under financial burden due to a delay in cane payments.

The lockdown imposed by the government to prevent the spread of Coronavirus pandemic has also affected many sugar mills across India. Mills were unable to sell the sugar amid lockdown, due to which sugar stocks piled up in godown. Lack of finance has also affected the mills to clear cane arrears.
