Bhogpur (Punjab): Cooperative Sugar Mill Bhogpur will complete the crushing of all the cane grown in the region before shutting its operations, said General Manager of the mill Arun Arora, reports Jagran.
The mill started operations on November 23, 2021, and has set a target of crushing 36 lakh quintal sugarcane. The mill has so far completed a crushing of 16.50 lakh quintal sugarcane with a recovery rate of around 10 per cent.
Paramvir Singh Pamma, chairman of the mill, said the mill has sold power worth Rs 6.50 crore from its newly set power plant. The mill has made the payment of sugarcane procured till January 5. And the unit will be closed only after crushing all the sugarcane grown in the region.
Both have appealed to farmers not to pay heed to the rumours of closing the sugar mill before the completion of the crushing season.
