New Delhi: Indian politics has suffered a huge loss as 81-year-old senior Congress leader Sheila Dikshit died on Saturday in New Delhi. She had been ill for a long time. Dikshit served as Delhi’s chief minister for 15 years. During her tenure, she transformed the face of India’s capital.
She was one of the senior-most leaders in Congress and took the party to a new height. With her death, the country has lost a dedicated leader of the masses.
She took her last breath at Escorts Fortis heart institute, where she was admitted in the hospital on July 19 under a critical state. Dikshit had undergone heart surgery in France last year.
Senior politicians including PM Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and others mourned the death of Sheila Dikshit.
