Cane crushing season in Maharashtra affected due to waterlogged fields

Pune: Sugarcane crushing season in Maharashtra is likely to delay due to the water logging in the sugarcane fields following the heavy rainfall. It has become difficult to harvest the sugarcane crop from the fields.

The mills in the state were allowed to start cane crushing from October 15 anticipating the bumper cane production. According to the news report published in Indianexpress.com, not a single sugar mill has started the season so far in the state.

The non-arrival of the cane harvester from Beed and other parts of Maharashtra for cane crushing is also one of the reasons for a delay in cane crushing.
