Sugarcane farmers in Theni district have demanded the government exemption from collection of toll fee at the toll collection plazas when they transport the produce from the fields to the crushing unit here on Friday, reports The Hindu.
The demand was made at a grievances redressal meeting organized by district collector K. V. Muralidharan.
During the meeting, farmers stated that the sugar mills take time to pay them their dues after the procurement of cane and that the government should exempt them from paying toll fees at toll plazas.
