Centre to increase sugar export quota soon: Devendra Fadnavis

The Centre will soon increase the export quota for sugar, assured the Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah to the leaders from Maharashtra during a BJP meeting on Tuesday, reports PTI.

Shah also stated that the government will take steps to assist ailing sugar mills. The delegation from Maharashtra that met Shah included Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Speaking to reporters, Fadnavis said, “Maharashtra is a coastal state and we can export sugar through ports but the export quota has been exhausted. The minister has assured us to take appropriate decisions to increase the export quota.”

The meeting was attended by BJP leaders Raosaheb Patil Danve, Pankaja Munde, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Harshvardhan Patil, and Dhananjay Mahadik, among others.
