Chhattisgarh gets investment for ethanol production

Chhattisgarh: The state government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoUs) with two Delhi-based firms that would set up nutritional supplements, fortified rice, ethanol, and power units by investing Rs 295 crore, reports Business Standard.

The proposals of Unity Industries Private Limited and Suruchi Foods Private Limited will generate jobs for 920 people.

Unity Industries will produce ethanol from maize-based cornstarch and damaged rice apart from a captive power plant. The company would invest Rs 183 crore and will provide jobs to 120 people.

The capacity of the plant will be 120,000 kilolitres per annum (KLPA). The initiative was a part of the Chhattisgarh government’s plan to promote ethanol production in the state.
