Closing Bell : Indian indices close at record highs led by IT stocks auto stocks;

On Monday Indian indices ended at record close mainly led by IT stocks, which surged after IT major TCS reported better than expected earnings in the December quarter. Gains in auto, FMCG, and pharma stocks also witnessed major buying, however, the banking and metal indices continued their underperformance. The Sensex rose as much as 521 points to hit an all-time high of 49,303.79 and Nifty 50 index touched a record high of 14,488.30.

The Sensex closed 486.81 points higher to close at an all-time high of 49,269.32 and Nifty 50 index climbed 137.50 points higher to closed at 14,484.75
