Uttar Pradesh: Contractual labourer dies in conveyor belt accident at sugar mill

Pilibhit: In a tragic incident at the Bisalpur Cooperative Sugar Mill, a 23-year-old contractual labourer, Vishnu Kumar, lost his life while cleaning the conveyor belt around 1 am on Wednesday, reported The Times of India.

The victim, hailing from Gulenda village under Bisalpur Kotwali police station, sustained fatal injuries after he got stuck in the conveyor belt.

Efforts were made to rescue Kumar, who suffered a broken arm and had a feeble heartbeat, as he was promptly rushed to a local community health centre. However, medical professionals pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Addressing the situation, Jai Prakash Yadav, the general manager of the mill, expressed condolences and assured the family that a job would be provided to one of Kumar’s relatives. Additionally, financial assistance would be extended to support the family during this difficult time.

Bisalpur Kotwali Station House Officer (SHO) Ashok Pal confirmed that the body was sent for autopsy. As of now, no formal written complaint has been lodged.

Yadav clarified that Kumar was employed as a temporary labourer on a contractual basis through the mill’s labour contractor.
