Coronavirus impact: Two Sugar mills temporarily stop operations in Philippines

Manila, Philippines: Coronavirus have started impacting the sugar industry worldwide. As preventive measures to control Coronavirus infection, many sugar mills shut their operations.

Amid the Coronavirus outbreak, two sugar mills from Bukidnon in the Philippines have stopped operations for a temporary period.

The Busco Sugar Milling Co., Inc. and Crystal Sugar Company, Inc. have stopped operations and they will remain shut till April 5.

Eduard V. Carlos, officer-in-charge of Busco Sugar Milling Co said, that after a request from Bukidnon Governor Jose Maria Zubiri Jr., the mill was temporarily closed. The steps have been taken to limit the spread of Coronavirus.

“We will resume operations on April 6 and will complete operations by May 21,” he further added.

On March 17, Zubiri issued Executive Order No. 13 that placed the province under quarantine owing to Coronavirus outbreak. Till date, there is not a single case of Coronavirus in the province.
