Solapur: Maharashtra has been the worst affected by Coronavirus, with Mumbai records a high number of cases. Many districts like Solapur, Nandurbar, others were coronavirus free. But, now Solapur district also recorded its first coronavirus case and death.
District collector Milind Shambharkar said that a Pacha Peth area resident who died on Sunday was due to Covid-19.
“The area of his residence has been cordoned off and 52 persons that came in his contact have been admitted to the civil hospital immediately. Their throat swab samples have been sent for testing,” he said.
The area where the deceased was residing has been declared containment zone and citizens’ movements have been restricted in the region. The one-km area around the region has been sealed.
Maharashtra has reported the highest number of coronavirus cases in the country.
