Coronavirus outbreak: Instructions issued to sugar mills for safety precautions

Lucknow: Following the outbreak of Coronavirus which began at Wuhan in China and later spread to other parts of the world, the Uttar Pradesh government has issued an advisory to the sugarcane growers as well as sugar mills and sugar traders to take precautions to keep the virus at bay. The virus though initially spotted in major cities in the country, it may spread to the villages and may infect farmers. Keeping this in view the government has issued guidelines to the farmers.

The sugarcane crushing season is at its final phase and the sugar mills are running to complete crushing in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has appealed the sugar mills to not to organise large gatherings and programmes on the backdrop of Coronavirus.

The government is alert and ready to tackle any emergency situation. The mills have been asked to maintain hygiene and instructed farmers and mills workers to wash hands with soap before entering and leaving the mill premises. Government has asked the millers to inform immediately if they come across any patient having symptoms of cough and cold with flu.
