Crushing capacity of Gurdaspur sugar mill to be increased from 2000 TCD to 5000 TCD

Gurdaspur: The sugarcane crushing capacity of the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Gurdaspur will be increased from 2000 TCD to 5000 TCD at a cost of Rs 413.80 crore.

The foundation stone for the work was laid by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Chani on Saturday.

He said, “The expansion of cane crushing capacity will enable the mill to crush 50,000 to 60,000 tons of sugarcane as well as to generate 20mw power that will be supplied to the state.”

“Of the total expenditure of Rs 413.80 crore, Rs 369 crore will be spent of setting up of the plant, machinery and civil works,” Chani further added.
