Deepender Singh Hooda demands to increase sugarcane price to Rs 400 per quintal

Lucknow: Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Singh Hooda said that the hike of Rs 25 per quintal announced by the government is insufficient and instead the government should hike the price to Rs 400 per quintal.

Speaking to reporters he said, “As per the hike announced by the state government by Rs 25 per quintal, the cane price reaches to around Rs 350 per quintal. It should be increased to Rs 400 per quintal.”

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi had in 2015-16 set the target of doubling income of cane farmers but at present, the farmers are unable to meet the cost of production,” he said.
