Sangrur: According to the news report published in Tribuneindia.com, sugarcane farmers are on agitation outside the Dhuri SDM’s office since June 7 for their pending cane dues.
The protesters said that they have launched a protest to get their cane dues which they sold to a local sugar mill in the last two financial years. The farmers claim that they shifted to sugarcane from paddy after the state government assured them a better price.
SDM Latif Ahmed said they had been working to ensure that the sugar mill clears cane dues soon.
