DMK demands revival of defunct sugar mill in Puducherry

Puducherry: DMK leader has urged the ruling N R Congress-BJP government to take steps to revive the defunct sugar mill in the union territory.

R Siva, the leader of the opposition and the DMK unit head, Puducherry said that the ruling parties had promised the revival of the sugar mill during the assembly election campaign and they should fulfill it now.

According to Uniindia.com, he said that more than 20,000 farmers are associated with the sugar mill and they produce 3 lakh tonne sugarcane.
NR Congress and BJP had promised that if voted to power they would revive the closed sugar mill but they have failed it. The farmers are forced to sell their cane to the private sugar mills in Tamil Nadu which should be condemned.
