Drive launched against overloaded sugarcane carrying vehicles

Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh: Following orders of district magistrate Pulkit Khare, the administration has launched an enforcement drive to take action against the trucks and tractors overloaded with sugarcane during cane crushing season. The drive has been led by assistant regional transport officer Amitabh Rai to ensure the safety of commuters and avert accidents.

According to the news report published in The Times of India, the enforcement teams have seized two tractor trolleys and a truck loaded with sugarcane on the first day of the drive. They have also issued challans against five sugarcane-laden vehicles. The penalty of Rs 1.35 lakh has been imposed on the owners of the vehicles owners.

They have instructed the farmers and the tractor drivers to carry the adequate amount of sugarcane to the cane collection centres and to the sugar mills for crushing. The tractor is allowed to carry a maximum of 10-tonne sugarcane.

The teams have seized overloaded tractors around Barkhera sugar mill. They have also launched a drive to check documents of these vehicles.
