Drought affects corn production in Brazil’s Southern state

Sao Paulo: Drought is likely to affect the corn production in Brazil’s Rio Grande does Sul State, which is likely to produce 4.51 million tonnes against the earlier forecast of 5.38 million tonnes, as per the forecast by StoneX, reports Reuters.

The impact of climate adversity is common for the Rio Grande do Sul, said StoneX. In the 2021/22 season, the weather was drier than normal that affected the growth of the crops and output fell to 2.56 million tonnes as against the expectations of 5.76 million tonnes, said StoneX.

Brazilian farmers plant up to three corn crops in some regions and the first two crops are also referred to as summer and winter corn.
