Egypt attains 87 per cent self-sufficiency in sugar production

Egypt is working towards the target of achieving self-sufficiency in sugar production. The country has already attained the autarky in catering 87 per cent domestic needs.

“Sugar output in Egypt is improved and we have the stocks that are sufficient for three months,” said Supply Minister Mohamed Moselhy.

He said that we are now importing only 12 per cent of our total demand.

“All our efforts are in the direction to ensure that the citizens get the benefit of government policies and they are relieved of their sufferings,” he further added.
