Egypt cancels tender for 100,000 tonnes of Brazilian raw sugar

Cairo: According to the media report, ESIIC, state sugar buyer of Egypt, has cancelled a tender of purchasing 100,000 tonnes of Brazilian raw sugar.

ESIIC had floated tenders for two 50,000 tonne shipments from May 21- June 5 and July 5-20. The media report says that ESIIC did not purchase sugar because of higher prices.

The annual sugar production of Egypt is about 2.5 million tonnes and the annual consumption is around 3.3 million tonnes.
