Egypt to become self-sufficient in sugar production

The local sugar production has met 85 per cent of the domestic need this year and by next year we would be self-sufficient, said Supply and Internal Trade Minister Ali Moselhi.

He said, “Egypt could achieve this target as the sugar production has increased since President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi assumed the post in 2014.

The achievements of Egypt since 2014 after El-Sisi took over power are helping the country to march towards self-sufficiency and these achievements were not achieved earlier during others’ rule.”

Moselhi had met with the heads of sugar production companies in January and had discussed the plan to increase sugar production to make the country self-sufficient.
