Egypt’s largest sugar production plant start operations

Cairo: Egypt is adopting various measures to become self sufficient in sugar production. Marching towards the set goal, Canal Sugar Company on Tuesday announced the operations commencement of the country’s largest sugar production plant.

As per the media report, the company has invested around $400 million in the plant. The first and second lines of the factory have been started with a production capacity of 18,000 tonnes of sugar per day, with an aim to reach the maximum production capacities of about one million tons per year during the next year 2023.

After reaching maximum capacity, the company would help Egypt to become self-sufficient in sugar production.
