Chennai: One of the largest sugar makers in the country, EID Parry India Ltd, will be closing its one of the non-operating sugar unit in Tamil Nadu.
The company said, “The Murugappa Group firm’s sugar unit at Pettavaithalai in Tamil Nadu has stopped operations as there is a scarcity of sugarcane for crushing”.
According to the news report published in Thehindu.com, the company said in a regulatory filing that it proposes to deal with the assets as may be deemed appropriate.
