MANILA, Philippines: The raw sugar production in Philippines will remain flat next year due to the effect of El Nino, informed the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

As per the report of the USDA Foreign Agricultural Services (FAS), the raw sugar production in the Philippines will be 2.1 million metric tonne(MT), same as expected production this year. The dry condition caused by El Nino during the planting stage is likely to affect the production next year.

Though the production remains the same, consumption is likely to increase by 2.3 million MT. This year the demand is projected at 2.25 million MT.
