Ethanol production surges in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is registering growth in biofuel output as the distilleries in the state produced 35 per cent more ethanol as compared to last fiscal 2022-23, reported The Pioneer.

According to the Minister of State for Excise Nitin Agarwal, during the current fiscal till September, 94.82 crore litres of ethanol was produced in the state which was 35% more as compared to last fiscal 2022-23. During the last fiscal 2022-23, the ethanol production in the first six months of the year was 70.27 crore litres.

This surge in ethanol production aligns with the state’s focus on renewable energy sources.

Government earned a record revenue of around Rs 3,200 crore from the sale of potable alcohol, including India made foreign liquor, country liquor and beer in the month of September.
