European Union’s sugar beet area likely to increase by 2-3 per cent next season: Tereos

Olivier Leducq, CEO of Tereos, France’s biggest sugar producer, stated at a conference in Dubai that despite high sugar prices, the European Union’s sugar beet planting area might only increase by 2-3% next season.

Similarly, Viacheslav Chuk, the chief commercial officer of Ukraine sugar producer Astarta, mentioned at the same conference that Ukraine’s sugar beet acreage is anticipated to grow by approximately 1% to 2% this year.

Chuk also forecasted that Ukraine’s sugar production would reach a seven-year peak of 2 million metric tons in the upcoming 2024/25 season, up from 1.8 million in 2023/24.
