Farmers against shutting lone sugar mill from Goa

Margao: Farmers are against the Goa government’s plan to shut Sanjivani sugar mill from Dharbandora, the lone sugar mill from Goa state.

Sugarcane cultivators recently met at Vaddem in Sanguem and stated that the cooperative sugar mill was set up by investment from shareholders across the Goa and the government cannot take a decision on its closure unilaterally. Chief minister Pramod Sawant should listen to them first, they said.

State BJP has urged the chief minister Sawant to protect the interests of sugarcane farmers before taking any decision.
